The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is responsible for Australia's Antarctic Program.
Our goals include:
* Maintaining the Antarctic Treaty System
* Protecting the Antarctic environment
* Understanding Antarctica's role in the global climate system

We also administer the Australian Antarctic Territory and Heard Island and McDonald Islands.
The Operations and Logistics Branch oversees our operations in Antarctica, supporting research stations and remote field bases. They manage air and sea transport, including the RSV Nuyina icebreaker, to transport personnel and supplies.
The Maritime Asset Management and Maritime Logistics sections collaborate on maritime activities, encompassing shipping, vessel management, and voyage planning.
Job Description
The Assistant Director RSV Nuyina - Engineering will lead a team responsible for managing Australia's icebreaker, RSV Nuyina. This involves monitoring engineering aspects, managing defects, and implementing best practices.
This role requires expertise in maritime engineering, configuration management, and project management. The successful applicant will work closely with our contractor and be part of a high-performing team.
Requirements
The Assistant Director RSV Nuyina - Engineering should have knowledge and experience in:
* Maritime Engineering: Ship systems, engineering management practices, and applicable legislation
* Configuration Management: Contemporary practices in an engineering context
* Project Management: Complex projects and technical documentation
Eligibility includes tertiary qualifications in a relevant field from an Australian university or equivalent institution.
