The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by managing roads, marine and public transport networks across the State, and builds and maintains the State-owned infrastructure that enables the delivery of essential and important government services to our community.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in how asset systems support road maintenance across South Australia. This is a dual-classification role, and applicants may be considered at ASO7 or PO4 level, depending on qualifications, skills, and experience.
As an Asset System Specialist / Asset System Engineer, you will help ensure asset management platforms are reliable, secure, and fit for purpose. You will work hands-on with system configuration, data, and users, while also contributing to system improvements and future upgrades.
Working closely with maintenance teams, IT, vendors, and other stakeholders, you will help integrate asset systems with GIS, maintenance, and analytics tools, supporting better asset lifecycle decisions and continuous improvement.
About You
You are an experienced professional with strong discipline knowledge, delivering innovative solutions and managing change while mitigating risk. You have extensive experience in data engineering and management, cloud‑based systems and digital solutions.
You provide clear, practical advice on complex or sensitive issues, contributing expert policy guidance. You lead and engage teams and stakeholders to deliver customer focused, strategically aligned outcomes.
Educational Qualifications/ Licences
ASO7
* Tertiary qualifications (degree or higher) in a relevant field (e.g. computer science, data science, mathematics or engineering) will be highly regarded.
* A current Driver's Licence is essential
PO4
* Degree in Engineering (Software, Computer Systems, Network Systems) providing eligibility for graduate membership as a Professional Engineer of the Institution of Engineers, Australia.
* Relevant experience.
* A current Driver's Licence is essential.
Special Conditions
* A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
* Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
Tenure of Vacancy
Temporary appointment up to two (2) years
Remuneration
ASO7 - $108,109 to $116,864 pa + superannuation
PO4 - $110,696 to $120,470 pa + superannuation
