The Opportunity
We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our AU/NZ Finance team based in Sydney. The AU/NZ Finance team is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate and compliant finance reporting across the AU/NZ business. This role will primarily support the month‐end close process, ensuring key deadlines are met, while taking ownership of intercompany reconciliations, cash management, general ledger support and related finance activities.

Key Role Accountabilities
Intercompany
* Take ownership of intercompany reconciliations across relevant B&H Worldwide entities.
* Ensure creditor and debtor balances remain at a minimum across all countries.
* Follow up and resolve invoice queries in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain zero difference at month end with other B&H Worldwide entities.
* Process month-end journals, including payroll journals, in accordance with the journal approval process.
* Prepare overheads analysis as part of month-end activities.
* Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and process appropriate adjustments where required.
* Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
* Prepare weekly cash forecasts to support effective cash management.
* Prepare customer‐specific reporting and invoicing as required.
* Review debt and expected cash receipts.
* Review job profitability, including low‐margin and loss‐making jobs, and escalate matters where required.
* Process and pay staff expenses, including personal reimbursements and corporate credit card charges.
* Process payments through the bank in accordance with internal approval requirements.
* Support creditor management, including payment terms and review of debit balances.
* Assist in maintaining the purchase ledger where required.
* Maintain duty and tax accounts, ensuring ledgers are kept at zero balance and records are properly maintained.
* Review and propose weekly payment runs in line with expected cashflow.
General Finance and Administration Duties
* Provide cover for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable roles during team member absences or holidays.
* Answer and return calls promptly and maintain a rapid response in accordance with agreed standards.
* Maintain and share relevant knowledge of applicable laws, procedures, finance practices and internal requirements.
* Adhere to health and safety policies and other requirements relating to the care and use of equipment.
* Liaise with management to identify any required changes to work instructions and finance processes.
* Undertake other ad hoc duties as reasonably required.

* This role requires excellent attention to detail, accuracy and a strong understanding of accounting practices and terminology.
* You will be comfortable working under pressure in a fast‐paced environment and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of work.
* You will have excellent customer service skills, with a flexible and adaptable approach to supporting internal and external stakeholders.

* A good understanding of accounting practices and terminology.
* Good working knowledge of finance systems and reporting tools.
* Experience using Cargowise will be highly regarded but is not essential.
* Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
