About the role
Mater Research has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Consultant Psychology to join our team on a casual basis, working up to 11 hours a week.
Based at our South Brisbane location, you will provide specialised clinical and psychotherapeutic expertise to support research, education, and program adaptation activities across the Care Around Stillbirth and Neonatal Death (CASaND) within the Stillbirth CRE. It involves clinical content development, guidance on risk, bereavement, and mental health, and the safe engagement of bereaved parents and families after perinatal loss.
Salary range: $ $80.44 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits
What you'll be doing
* Provide clinical leadership for bereavement and mental health considerations across the CASaND program, serving as the primary contact for psychotherapeutic content development within the Stillbirth CRE.
* Lead the initial project scoping, planning, and coordination of the adaptation of the Living with Loss online grief support program, ensuring clinically robust and trauma-informed approaches.
* Develop, adapt, and refine evidence-based clinical and psychotherapeutic content, including therapeutic modules, scripts, activities, and guidance materials for parents and healthcare professionals.
* Support and lead codesign activities with bereaved parents, families, and clinicians to ensure relevance, cultural sensitivity, and safety in program delivery.
* Provide expert input into research materials, ethics applications, and risk management protocols relevant to digital bereavement support and engagement with vulnerable populations.
* Contribute specialised clinical expertise to qualitative research activities (e.g., focus groups, interviews) as required, ensuring safe and appropriate participation.
* Apply digital mental health best practice standards, including online engagement principles and user-experience considerations, to optimise the accessibility, usability, and effectiveness of Living with Loss and related resources.
* Participate in relevant training, professional development activities, and program-related workshops or stakeholder sessions to maintain contemporary expertise in bereavement care and digital mental health.
About you
* Warmth, compassion, and emotional intelligence, with strong self-management skills and the ability to engage sensitively with bereaved parents and families.
* Excellent communication skills, including clear, professional written communication and strong verbal skills suited to clinical, research, and digital program contexts.
* Ability to work autonomously and use initiative while contributing expert clinical input within a collaborative, multidisciplinary research team.
* Current registration as a Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra)
* Masters or Doctorate level qualifications in Psychology
