About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Fibre Supervisor / Network Test Supervisor to lead fibre installation oversight and network testing & QA activities on a high-quality data centre cabling project in Sydney.
This role is offered on an initial contract basis, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate based on performance and ongoing project needs.
You will be responsible for supervising fibre technicians and network test & QA technicians, ensuring all installation, testing, certification, and documentation works are completed to data centre standards and are fully audit and commissioning ready.
This is a fibre and Cat6a heavy environment with a strong focus on quality, testing accuracy, compliance, and documentation. This is not a copper-only role.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Leadership
* Supervise and coordinate fibre technicians and network test & QA technicians
* Allocate daily tasks, manage work sequencing, and maintain productivity
* Provide clear on-site leadership and technical guidance
Fibre Installation Oversight
* Enforce correct fibre handling practices including bend radius, cleanliness, strain relief, and containment
* Ensure fibre and Cat6a installations meet data centre, client, and AS/CA S009 standards
* Monitor cable routing through trays, baskets, and racks
* Maintain professional cable management standards (velcro only)
Network Testing & QA
* Oversee Cat6a and fibre testing and certification activities
* Supervise use of Fluke Networks test equipment, including:
* DSX Series (Cat6a certification)
* OLTS (Tier 1 fibre testing)
* OTDR (Tier 2 fibre testing)
* Review and validate test results, loss budgets, and acceptance criteria
* Interpret test data, manage failure analysis, and direct rectification works
* Identify and close out non-conformances including routing, bend radius, labelling, and documentation issues
QA, Documentation & Handover
* Maintain QA checklists and compliance documentation
* Oversee compilation and submission of client-ready test packs
* Support audits and final commissioning and handover sign-off
* Liaise with site management and project teams
Safety & Compliance
* Enforce WHS, QA, ACMA, and project compliance requirements
* Maintain daily reporting and progress tracking
Mandatory Requirements
* White Card (Construction Induction)
* ACMA Open Cabling Registration (AUSCAB, TITAB, or equivalent)
* Cert III in Telecommunications / Data Cabling / ICT
* CCNA certification or demonstrated CCNA-level testing knowledge
* Proven experience supervising fibre installation and network testing teams
* Strong technical knowledge of fibre installation, Cat6a structured cabling, and network testing
* Solid understanding of AS/CA S009 cabling standards
* Experience working to data centre quality standards
* Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
