Overview
Denmark Local Grocer is a much loved locally owned store in the town of Denmark. We pride ourselves on providing fresh locally sourced produce and items to our customers and are expanding our operations with a newly created Fresh Produce Manager position. We also operate a wholesale division that supplies a range of restaurants, kitchens and cafes in the region.
We are looking for a Fresh Produce Manager who will take responsibility for the availability and presentation of both the in-shop produce and the efficient fulfillment of wholesale orders. You will be passionate about fruit and veg and have excellent customer service skills. We work with a number of local suppliers providing fresh, high quality produce, some of which is spray free. You will also be part of the Store leadership team and will act in a general supervisory role throughout the week.
Responsibilities
- Ensure availability and presentation of in-shop fresh produce and efficient fulfillment of wholesale orders.
- Lead and supervise store activities as part of the leadership team.
- Maintain high standards of quality control to ensure freshness.
- Keep the POS and stock control system up to date to enable appropriate ordering.
- Support relationship management with suppliers and customers.
- Contribute to maintaining high customer service standards and loyalty.
- Manage data entry efficiently with the help of systems and outsourcing where appropriate.
- Coordinate and motivate the team to meet workload and targets.
- Basic computer skills in Word, Outlook and Excel; knowledge of POS systems is advantageous.
- Physically capable to lift approx. 15 kg and hold a valid forklift licence or the ability to obtain one.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in fresh produce management or fruit and vegetable retail operations.
- Food safety certification or willingness to obtain relevant food handling qualifications.
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa with appropriate work rights.
Working details
- Full time, permanent position based in Denmark.
- The store operates 7 days a week; some weekend hours are required on alternate weekends.
- Accommodation may be available for applicants from outside the region; details discussed at interview.
