About the Role
We are currently recruiting a Zone Substation Electrical Technician to join our Transmission Central West team based in Dubbo or Narrabri.
The Zone Substation Electrical Technician is responsible for the construction and maintenance of Zone Substations, inspecting, testing, and reporting on the nature and condition of network assets, as well as the installation, commissioning, and testing of associated Zone Substation and distribution equipment.
Key responsibilities
* Construction and maintenance of Zone Substations
* Installation, commissioning, and testing of associated Zone Substation and distribution equipment
* Carrying out switching operations associated with both high and low voltage engineering services
* Inspecting, testing, and reporting on the nature and condition of network assets to maintain quality standards
* Accessing and using computerised systems to operate remote equipment
* Operating plant and equipment associated with Zone Substations in a safe manner
About You
As a Zone Substation Electrical Technician, you will demonstrate practical application of your qualifications. You will be capable of coordinating and managing the construction and maintenance of Zone Substations, as well as the installation, commissioning, and testing of Zone Substation equipment. This role involves travel and working away from home.
Required Qualifications/Skills
* Trade-qualified Electrician with a current electrical licence
* Driver's licence
* WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Certificate
* Diploma in ESI Power Systems with preferred electives in Testing Systems (desirable)
* High voltage, transmission, or power systems experience (desirable)
* Ability to work effectively within a team
* Basic computer operation skills
* Good communication and interpersonal skills for electronic communication and stakeholder engagement
* Willingness to travel and work away from home
