Ballarat & Grampians Community Legal Service has a 35-year history of providing free legal services to people experiencing deep and persistent disadvantage. We have invested significantly in the development of our new Strategy 2025-2027 to ensure our organisation is providing contemporary integrated services to respond the shared and unique needs of the people we support across 11 local government areas in Western Victoria.

Summary:
We are seeking a Communications officer to develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy to support project implementation and organisation positioning. Working within the context a whole of organisation approach, the Communications Officer will support the Stakeholder Engagement Manager to enhance the written and social communications, and will work collaboratively with the team and our partner service providers to achieve project outcomes.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and manage content and strategy for all social media channels including monthly analytics
* Advanced copy writing for a variety of communications materials such as reports (including the annual report), brochures, email marketing, printed collateral
* Assist the Stakeholder Engagement Manager with event management plans and associated communications in the delivery of the event.
* Problem solve collaboratively internally and with partners to achieve optimum outcomes for clients and community members
* Contribute to the reporting requirements for funding acquittals and to advocate for identified needs in various communities across the region
* Develop formal and informal partnerships to deliver project purpose and strengthen broader service delivery of BGCLS in communities across the region
Key Selection Criteria
* Experience in developing communications both written and for social channels for the community services sector and/or project specific initiatives
* Demonstrated ability to adapt strategies to unique community needs and opportunities
* Demonstrated ability to problem solve and think innovatively and critically
* Experienced in developing new and existing relationships to achieve project outcomes in a mutually beneficial manner
* Ability to operate within project guidelines and funding requirements
* Confident and competent user of technology (including Survey Monkey, MailChimp, Canva and various social media channels and web platforms such as Duda)
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline
* Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
* Cleared National Police Record Check (it is the responsibility of all staff to notify the organization immediately if there are any changes to their criminal records status)
* Current right to work in Australia
* Valid, employer Working with Children Check
* Physical ability to safely undertake all aspect of the position
