Our divisions include, Electrical, Maintenance & Essential Services, Fire Protection, Facilities & Maintenance, ICT, Communications Fibre & Data, AV, Security & CCTV, HVAC, Plumbing, Refrigeration, HV, Renewable Energy & Generation and lastly, Automation.

Our workload is a mixture of industrial, commercial and domestic.

The HV & Power Services Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the growth, performance, and sustainability of the High Voltage & Power Services division across Tasmania. The role has a strong business development focus, supported by effective operational leadership, mentoring, and management of the HV & Power Services team.

The position is accountable for expanding client relationships, identifying and converting new business opportunities, strengthening market presence, and ensuring projects and services are delivered safely, profitably, and to a high technical standard.

You will have the option to be based at one of our three branches in Tasmania: Hobart, Burnie or Launceston.

Reporting to General manager, the HV & Power Services Manager operations in accordance with safety, compliance, and operational requirements. This role combines hands-on HV switching and operational duties with the supervision of field teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of electrical works across Tasmania.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth (Primary Focus)

* Lead and execute business development strategies to grow the HV & Power Services portfolio across Tasmania.

* Identify, pursue, and secure new opportunities in HV infrastructure, power distribution, renewables interfaces, maintenance, shutdowns, and specialist services.

* Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, asset owners, utilities, principals, consultants, and major contractors.

* Act as the senior commercial and technical representative for HV & Power Services in client meetings and negotiations.

* Work closely with estimating and senior management to develop competitive tenders, pricing strategies, and value propositions.

* Monitor market trends, upcoming projects, and regulatory changes to identify growth opportunities.

* Drive repeat business and long-term service agreements with existing clients.

Team Leadership, Management & Mentoring

* Provide leadership and direction to the HV & Power Services team, including supervisors, technicians, and apprentices.

* Mentor and develop team members to build capability, succession, and technical depth within the division.

* Set clear performance expectations and support individual development plans.

* Foster a strong culture of safety, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

* Support workforce planning, recruitment, and onboarding in line with business growth.

Safety & Compliance

* Lead by example in safety leadership, ensuring all HV works are planned and executed in accordance with WHS legislation, HV switching rules, and company procedures.

* Ensure risk assessments, switching programs, permits, and documentation are completed and reviewed appropriately.

* Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives across HV & Power Services.

* Maintain a strong safety culture within the team and across client interfaces.

Client & Stakeholder Management

* Act as the primary escalation point for HV & Power Services clients.

* Maintain strong relationships with regulators, network operators, and industry stakeholders.

* Represent the business at industry forums, client briefings, and networking events.

* Ensure a high standard of client communication and service delivery.

Competencies/Attributes

Essential

* Extensive experience in High Voltage and Power Services environments.

* Demonstrated success in business development, client relationship management, or commercial growth roles.

* Strong leadership experience managing and mentoring technical teams.

* In-depth understanding of HV safety systems, switching, and regulatory requirements.

* Commercial acumen with the ability to understand margins, pricing, and project performance.

* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

* Current HV authorisations and relevant electrical licences (or ability to maintain them).

Desirable

* Experience working with utilities, asset owners, or major infrastructure clients.

* Background in estimating, tendering, or contract negotiation.

* Formal leadership or management qualifications.

* Experience in renewables, HV maintenance contracts, or large-scale infrastructure projects.

* Business development and revenue growth for HV & Power Services.

Working Conditions

* Field-based across Tasmania with occasional travel to remote or regional sites

* Exposure to high-risk environments requiring strict adherence to safety protocols

* Occasional overtime, weekend, or after-hours work may be required
