Job Details

This position is for a Nurse to work in partnership with an interdisciplinary team to provide participant-centered healthcare.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing care and support for individuals with high levels of poly-substance use and a variety and complexity of acute and chronic conditions.

This role involves working independently and collaboratively with the team to support people contemplating or accessing prescribed pharmaceutical alternatives to illegal/toxic substances.

* Care Coordination: Provide care, assessment, screening, education, referrals, and advocacy regarding substance use, acute and chronic health concerns, mental health, sexual health, wound management, and general wellness.
* Harm Reduction Strategies: Provide harm reduction support through collaborative risk reduction strategies.
* Care Planning: Collaborate with participants and the team to develop and maintain individualized care plans, providing ongoing monitoring and support as needed.
* Community Partnerships: Work with community partners to ensure seamless support of mutual participants.


About the Position

This position is located at the Victoria Clinic. The hours of work will be variable, but generally fall between 9:00am and 6:00pm.

This role comes with extended health, life, and AD&D coverage in compliance with the BCNU Collective Agreement.

This position is also eligible to join the Municipal Pension Plan (MPP) after meeting certain requirements.

This role gets a generous vacation package, receives Stat In Lieu payments, and has a Sick Bank.

Key Requirements:

* Education: Registered Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse registered with the BCCNM regulator.
* Experience: Minimum 1-5 years' full scope, outreach nursing experience working with people with high levels of poly-substance use and mental health challenges.
* Skills: Demonstrated commitment to social justice principles and practices, including harm reduction, anti-racism, decolonization, combating stigma related to drug use, HIV, hepatitis C, and challenging gendered oppression.


Position Qualifications

* Strong Analysis: Strong analysis of colonialism and intergenerational impacts of historical and ongoing colonization.
* Public Health Models: Demonstrated understanding of public health and equity-oriented models of social support and healthcare.
* Mental Health Support: Demonstrated skills, experience, and knowledge in the areas of primary care, substance use, harm reduction, HIV, HCV, sexual health, mental health, and health promotion.
* Excellent Communication: Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and crisis management skills.
