About the Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre

We are a client-centred organisation, supporting the community throughout Barwon, Wimmera, and the South West regions, offering a range of specialist support services to people impacted by sexual and family violence, encompassing 24 hour crisis care, specialist response services, early intervention programs, Victims Assistance Program, Community Legal Services, trauma recovery programs, professional training and primary prevention initiatives.

About The Role

This position provides specialised first point of contact for our service in the assessment of adults, young people, children and families (with non-offending parent/s) who have experienced sexual assault or family violence, and for children and young people who engage in problematic or abusive sexualised behaviours. As the first point of contact for our organisation it is important that the intake service provides an informed, timely, consistent, client-centred response that is focused on a high quality service. The position reports to the Intake Team Leader and is supported by a team of highly skilled and qualified practitioners. Regular professional supervision, valuable peer and organisational support as well as training and professional development are provided.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Your application must address the following:

* Degree or above qualification in social work, psychology or related discipline.
* Minimum two years experience working in the family violence sector.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

* Demonstrated understanding of the assessment of risk in relation to family violence and provision of crisis intervention and casework with women and children from diverse backgrounds who have experienced family violence.
* Excellent understanding of the gendered nature and complex dynamic of family violence including the impact of family violence on women and children and the ability to articulate and apply to practice and advocacy.
* Demonstrated ability to provide specialist knowledge and secondary consultation, and to communicate, liaise and negotiate within a team and with other relevant professionals.
* Demonstrated assessment skills, including crisis intervention, case management, safety and risk assessment and therapeutic needs.
* Demonstrated ability to reflect and analyse complex problems and provide workable solutions.
* Demonstrated capacity to adapt, support and manage change.
* Demonstrated skills in building relationships with a range of government and other key stakeholders at a systemic and individual planning level.
* Demonstrated ability to flexibly manage completing priorities and assist others to do so.
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, continual improvement, risk management and occupational health and safety.
* A comprehensive understanding of the family violence service system including knowledge of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 and the Common Risk Assessment Framework.

Other

* Commitment to the vision, values and purposes of The SAFV Centre.
* Commitment to continuous quality improvement and cultural equity in service delivery.
* Current Victorian Driver's Licence.

Referees

Applicants must provide the name and current contact details of 2-3 professional referees including the most recent or current supervisor.

Period of Appointment

This position is fixed term, dependent on the continuation of funding to the service.

Hours of work

The position is full time (1.0 FTE);

Salary and Conditions

Annual salary range is $110,124 - $114,983 plus superannuation (pro rata for part time). Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.

Industrial Instrument: The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre Enterprise Agreement 2023.

Salary Packaging: Provided via Maxxia. PBI status with other expenses available to package above this cap. The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre is a Public Benevolent Institution.

Superannuation: The employer will also make superannuation payments on your behalf in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.

Probationary Period – 6 months with a review conducted during this time.
