Structural Engineering Lead

We are seeking an experienced and capable Senior Structural Engineer to step into a key leadership role within our business.
The Role
This is a senior, hands-on position responsible for leading the delivery of structural engineering projects across residential and light commercial sectors. You will play a critical role in maintaining design quality, managing client relationships, and contributing to the continued growth of the business.
This role is suited to someone who aspires to be part of the executive team of a high-performing engineering consultancy leading residential construction in Tasmania. You will have the opportunity to shape technical direction, influence project outcomes, and play a key role in the future growth and leadership of the business.
Key Responsibilities
1) Senior Engineering Leadership
* Lead the design and delivery of structural engineering projects from concept through to construction
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients, builders, and key stakeholders
* Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high technical standard
* Provide strong technical leadership, oversight, and quality assurance across all deliverables
* Identify and resolve complex technical and project-related challenges
* Contribute to business development and the strengthening of client relationships
2) Structural Design, Engineering & Construction Phase Support
* Undertake structural engineering design across a range of residential and light commercial projects
* Prepare and coordinate structural drawings and documentation suitable for construction
* Conduct site inspections to assess compliance with approved designs and specifications
* Observe key construction hold points, including footing and foundation stages
* Identify and address technical, quality, and constructability issues during construction
* Prepare clear and concise site inspection notes and reports
* Liaise with builders and contractors to clarify design intent and respond to technical queries
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* Minimum 5+ years experience in structural design of residential houses in Australia.
* Thorough working knowledge of AS1170, AS1684, AS3600, AS4100, AS2870, AS3700, AS1720 & AS4678.
* Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and residential construction practices.
* Experience in preparing engineering calculations and design documentation.
* Good communication and problem-solving skills.
* A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to a growing team.
* Holds, or is eligible to obtain, a CBOS license.
* Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident with full working rights.
