The position undertakes a wide range of technical tasks, including routine maintenance, system testing, functional commissioning, and the interpretation and amendment of technical drawings. You will also carry out measurements, assist with design requirements, install monitoring equipment, and lead investigations into complex or obscure signalling failures to enhance system integrity and performance.

In addition to delivering high‐quality technical work, you will ensure all activities comply with PTA safety, access and operational standards while maintaining tools, equipment and worksites to a high standard. The role contributes to continuous improvement through accurate reporting, documentation and maintenance record keeping, and by promoting best practice across the team. A strong focus on professional development is also embedded in this position, as you will coach and mentor signals personnel, deliver technical briefings, support the development of apprentices and maintain required competencies, accreditations and licences. This is an opportunity to apply specialist signalling expertise while helping to build capability and improve asset reliability across the network.

* Sound leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to monitor, schedule and coordinate work safely and efficiently; lead and motivate others; and provide on‐the‐job training, instruction and assessment.
* Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, supported by effective record‐keeping and report‐writing ability. Demonstrated proficiency in analysing data logs, identifying root causes, recommending process improvements, and preparing reports. Able to diagnose and rectify faults on complex electrical and signalling systems, interrogate system logs, and use relevant software and computer equipment to support fault analysis.
