Level: APS6 / EL1 equivalent (level determined by capability)
Location: ACT or VIC (Onsite)
Contract: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extensions

About the Role
This role supports mission-critical national security systems and is suited to experienced Database Administrators who want to work at depth, not breadth theatre.
We are seeking Senior and Lead Database Administrators to design, operate and uplift complex Oracle (and supporting) database environments in Linux enterprise platforms.
Appointment level will be determined based on experience, technical authority and ability to operate independently.
This is a hands-on technical role. Automation, ownership and engineering judgement are expected.

What You'll Be Responsible For (All Levels)
* Administering and supporting enterprise Oracle databases in Linux environments
* Providing Level 2/3 operational support and incident resolution
* Automating database and system administration tasks using scripting
* Implementing and supporting Oracle Data Guard configurations
* Managing patching, upgrades and routine maintenance
* Monitoring performance, capacity and availability
* Managing backup, restore and recovery (Flashback, restore points, Commvault)
* Performing database security administration (accounts, privileges, wallets, keys)
* Maintaining and improving SOPs, documentation and operational procedures

Additional Responsibilities – Lead Level
* Technical ownership of database platforms and standards
* Designing and sustaining high-availability, secure database architectures
* Leading complex troubleshooting and recovery activities
* Driving automation and operational uplift across the environment
* Setting and enforcing database standards and best practices
* Providing expert technical advice to stakeholders and delivery teams
* Mentoring senior DBAs and lifting overall team capability

Core Technical Skills (Required)
* Strong Oracle DBA experience in enterprise Linux environments
* Linux administration (shell scripting, cron)
* PL/SQL fundamentals and scripting for automation
* Oracle Data Guard (physical and/or logical)
* Backup and recovery tooling (Commvault, Flashback)
* Oracle troubleshooting and performance tuning
* Familiarity with Oracle Exadata architecture
* EMCC (job scheduling, monitoring, diagnostics)
* Programming capability in Python, Java or Perl

Desirable Experience
* Oracle APEX and/or GoldenGate
* MongoDB administration (including Ops Manager)
* Sybase ASE / Replication Server
* Experience operating in highly regulated or classified environments
