Duties and tasks may include but not limited to:
Impart a smooth and reflective finish on the desired surface. This includes the restoration of second-hand truck bumpers and bull bars. This involves restoring faded and pitted aluminium back to a high standard.
Selecting metal stock for job requirements.
Cutting, trimming, shaping and smoothing stock to form mould patterns.
Setting and adjusting controls to regulate electric current and depositing of coating on objects.
Tempering and hardening finished articles by quenching in oil or water baths or by cooling gradually in air.
One of the duties is to also aid, mentor and verbally train current polishing employees in the role. In this particular profession on the job training is essential and being able to communicate how the job is done correctly in an invaluable skill.
In the role, the maintenance of polishing machinery and dust extraction equipment is learnt. One of the main tasks is to continually service machinery to reduce break downs and decrease down time in the polishing area and the factory as a whole. Having employees that are capable of this, results in the business having an increased output and profitability.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
