Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sport and Recreation Coordinator to join our team.
The Sport and Recreation Coordinator will play a pivotal role in promoting and enhancing the health, wellbeing and social inclusion of the community.
* This position supports the Manager of Active Living to oversee the strategic planning, development, and implementation of sport, and recreation services and infrastructure aimed at fostering active living, accessibility and inclusive participation across the community.
* Responsible for the efficient, effective and professional functioning of the Sport and Recreation Team, including leading the development, implementation and achievement of business plans to meet Council directions and Best Practice frameworks.
* Provide leadership and coordinate the activities of Sport and Recreation team, including project delivery, sport development, operations and sport, recreation and leisure planning.
* Provide professional support to the Manager Active Living including timely, strategic written and verbal advice to base on sound, considered, informed and professional judgement.
* Establish and maintain productive relationships with internal customers, external agencies and the community.
* Establish and maintain effective team structures and modern management practices that support a skilled, engaged, and high-performing team. Achieve the annual Council Plan and other strategic performance objectives set for the sport and recreation team
* Deliver outstanding service that provides our customers with consistent experience that is kind and considerate; easy to access and enjoy; responsive to needs and expectations; and accessible and inclusive.
Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a high-level understanding of sport and recreation and active living planning, trends, theories and methodologies and skills in applying these in urban and rural environments.
A well-developed skills in strategic thinking, analysis and research methods and the ability to appraise information (both statistical, written and spatial) and apply in a sport, recreation and leisure setting.
Practical knowledge of contemporary community consultation processes and place making skills and demonstrated ability to achieve cooperation and build capacity.
Project management skills including a demonstrated ability to lead a project team or working party to deliver sustainable and integrated planning and management outcomes.
* Tertiary qualifications in sport, recreation and leisure with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
* Demonstrated relevant experience in the preparation and implementation of sport, recreation and leisure strategies, plans and policy for established and emerging communities.
* Experience in the development and implementation of contemporary community consultation processes.
