**The Opportunity**
Chandler Macleod is looking to engage a **Civil Designer **for a contract term of **6 - 12** months with a well-established NSW Government department. This role will be based in **Sydney.**

**Job Specification**
The primary purpose of the position is to design capital projects listed in the One Year Operational Plan and Four Year Delivery Plan as well as those projects which are created throughout the operational year. In this instance, there will be a focus on design development for the Bus Stop DDA program.

In this position, you will be required to perform but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Undertake infrastructure civil designs and supporting documentation throughout each phase of design development to ensure all project and site needs, objectives, risks and issues are appropriately and satisfactorily responded to and that the design meets all relevant standards, codes and legislative (or similar) requirements.
- Ensure designs are supported by detailed costings and documentation that provides evidence of these considerations and allows for transparency in design decision making.
- Undertake administration and cost estimating of projects.
- Undertake review of forward planning documentation, investigation, and project design briefs associated with Infrastructure design and project delivery.
- Undertake safety in design documentation including risk assessments for each design.
- Carry out field assessments, inspections, asset identification and marking, and data collection activities onsite including road pavement area.
- Undertake stormwater drainage analysis using hydraulic software programs such as DRAINS.
- Attend design workshops, and describe the design including its intent to internal or external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal clients
- Prepare documentation to a high standard.
- Communicate and escalate design matters and issues to Senior Design Engineers and above.
- Undertake administration duties in a timely manner.
- Meet the Departments Performance Indicators and Targets.
- Assist in field survey and data collection activities.
**About You**
To be successful in this position, you will need to have experience in the following:
- 5 to 8 years experience in Infrastructure design including but not limited to road design, drainage design, footpath design, cycleway design and traffic facilities.
- Proficient computer systems knowledge and skills in AutoCAD, Civil3D, Autoturn and similar road geometric design softwares required.
- Stormwater drainage design including understanding of drainage network systems, including software packages such as DRAINS or other relevant hydraulic programs. (nice to have)
- Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in Civil Engineering Design and Construction.
- Sound interpersonal skills with proven ability to negotiate and facilitate meetings/discussions with internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes

**Education/Qualifications**
- Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering.
- Class C Driver's Licence.
- Current WH&S Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
**Desirable**
- Experience in surveying and structural design.
- Bilingual language skills.
- COVID-19 Vaccination.
