We are looking for an Economic Analyst to join the Finance Advisory and Evaluation team at the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-performing, collaborative team that influences policy and investment decisions across government. In this role, you will conduct economic evaluations, cost-benefit analyses, and strategic assessments to inform business cases, public policy design and program evaluation.
You will work closely with internal teams, senior executives, NSW Treasury, and even Ministerial stakeholders to deliver evidence-based insights that lead to better public outcomes. The team is known for being collaborative, high-performing, and deeply committed to knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement. What you will bring to the role
* A sharp analytical mind and a strong grasp of economic principles, with experience in cost-benefit analysis, policy/program evaluation or public sector investment.
* Confidence in communicating complex ideas to a range of audiences — from technical colleagues to senior leaders and Ministers.
* Experience analysing both quantitative and qualitative data and turning that into clear, actionable advice.
* The ability to juggle priorities and deliver high-quality outputs in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
* Strong stakeholder skills — you'll build relationships across government and work closely with partners from Treasury and beyond.
* Familiarity with the NSW Government Investment Framework (or similar) is ideal.
* Tertiary qualifications in economics, data analytics or similar discipline and/or equivalent experience in economic analysis, research and evaluation or investment planning in a public policy context.
