Department for Infrastructure and Transport
Job reference: 698780
Location: ADELAIDE
Job status: Long Term Contract
Eligibility: Open to Everyone
At the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, we are connecting South Australia to keep our State moving. We are responsible for delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of transformative transport and social infrastructure projects, operating and maintaining thousands of kilometres of roads and managing our city's public transport network.
Our work encompasses every part of our State; from our cities to our regions, connecting and strengthening community. We value diversity and inclusion and foster an environment of collaboration, flexibility, and support for our staff.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated and people-focused Housing Officer to join our team, supporting government employees living and working across regional South Australia. You will manage a portfolio of government-owned and leased properties, ensuring homes are well-maintained, tenancies are managed effectively, and vacancies are minimised to make the best use of available housing. Acting as the main point of contact, you'll provide responsive, professional, and practical support to assist government employee tenants.
This is a rewarding role where your work makes a real difference in regional communities. You'll collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to solve problems, implement improvements, and deliver high-quality outcomes. You'll also have the chance to mentor others, manage resources, and support positive change initiatives. Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills will help you thrive and make a meaningful impact.
About you
You are a values-driven professional who brings integrity, accountability, and respect for diversity into everything you do.
You have a strong customer focus and take pride in delivering positive, professional experiences for others. Whether supporting tenants, managing housing services, or working within established policies, you are responsive, reliable, and solutions-focused.
You're confident working with limited direction, but also thrive in a team environment—sharing knowledge, collaborating across functions, and contributing to practical solutions. With experience in tenancy, property, or housing-related services, you understand the broader context of government programs and emerging trends.
Clear communication is one of your strengths: you can write and speak with confidence, negotiate outcomes, resolve conflict when needed, and build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
