$142,493. Package includes salary ($113,574 - $125,720 p.a.), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is the independent prosecuting authority responsible for the prosecution of all serious indictable offences committed against the laws of New South Wales. We are an agency of over 1100 staff, working throughout NSW to service the main court centres. Our 10 offices have a mix of Crown Prosecutors, Solicitor Advocates, Solicitors and support staff.

The Role

As the Media Liaison and Communications Officer (MLCO), you will be responsible for liaison with the media and external stakeholders, and providing media and communications advice to the Office. Working closely with the Manager Media and Communications, the MLCO supports the development, implementation and review of media and communications strategies to facilitate corporate objectives.

Key Accountabilities include:

* Review, develop and implement media/communication protocols for the Office, raising staff awareness and providing advice as required
* Initiate and maintain effective contacts and cooperative relationships with media and other key stakeholders
* Act as principal media contact, responding promptly to enquiries from media and other key stakeholders
* Monitor media reports and sensitive issues in the news, providing appropriate advice to Manager and others, as required
* Coordinate media liaison and communications activities for the Office, including visits by guests and delegations
* Coordinate internal and external communications, including responding to enquiries received by the Office.

About you

* Qualifications or demonstrated experience in the media, communications or law.
* Outstanding communication skills and a sound understanding of the media landscape.
* Knowledge of the justice sector would be an advantage.
