The Senior Advisor Psychology role within South East Region Wellbeing Workforce provides clinicalsupervision to psychologists working in schools who are supporting students with their mental health and wellbeing. The role also contributes to the development of statewide programs, policies, operational standards and procedures to support psychology services across Queensland schools.
This role is offered on atemporary full-time basis, from 26 May 2025 until 19 December 2025, unless otherwise determined.
The Senior Advisor Psychology position is based in the Department of Education South East Regional Office in Hope Island, Gold Coast. There is rostered parking onsite, street parking nearby, and a beautiful office view to help stimulate your own wellbeing!
This full time role involves strategic interaction with the regional wellbeing team, including;
Senior Advisors Psychology Senior Guidance Officers Corporate Services Officer The Senior Advisor Psychology provides professional supervision to school-based psychologists across the South East Region working as part of the wellbeing workforce. The Senior Advisor Psychology will receive clinical supervision from the Principal Advisor Psychology in Central Office, as well as multidisciplinary peer supervision with colleagues in the region. Psychologists with the Department of Education receive a PD allowance of $1800 per annum for full-time permanent and full-time temporary employees.
Department of Education staff receive excellent superannuation entitlements at 12.75% and have salary packaging available for employees. The Senior Advisor Psychology will have calendar flexibility to organise your time as best suits you, and Department of Education supports flexible work conditions in collaboration with the Manager. The role encompasses collaboration opportunities with other organisations and government departments, including professional development opportunities with these organisations.
Some key functions of the position: Provide leadership and clinical and professional supervision to psychologists at a regional level, in collaboration with regional and school management, to promote the delivery of safe, effective, high quality services. Direct and support psychologists, senior psychologists and school management teams in assessing psychology requirements and identifying appropriate responses and interventions to support the mental health and wellbeing of students. Provide high level expert advice to inform strategic decision making in the development of policies, systems and practices related to the delivery and continuous improvement of psychology services within the region. Identify professional development needs and proactively plan, implement and evaluate clinical supervision, training and development initiatives for psychologists and senior psychologists across the region. Collaborate with the Regional Director, senior regional officers and leadership teams in schools to interpret data and determine needs-based resourcing and models for delivery of psychology services.
