Job Description
Avant Law is a specialist law firm seeking an experienced Solicitor or Associate to join its team in Perth. This is a unique opportunity to develop your career working for a leading medical defence law firm, collaborating with purpose-driven lawyers who are passionate about defending medical practitioners.
This role involves delivering high-quality legal advice and services in respect of medical defence matters to Avant Insurance claims managers and members. You will be responsible for providing general medico-legal advice, appearing on behalf of medical practitioners before various tribunals, and preparing hearings for VCAT.
The successful candidate will have relevant tertiary legal qualifications, an eligible practicing certificate as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia, and demonstrated post-admission experience in private practice in medical negligence or professional conduct related litigation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Relevant tertiary legal qualifications
* Eligible to hold an unsupervised practicing certificate as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia
* Demonstrated post-admission experience in private practice (ideally 2-4 years) in medical negligence or professional conduct related litigation
* Previous experience in conducting all phases of litigation and/or professional conduct cases
* Previous experience in employment law an advantage
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* High level of prioritization, time management, and self-management skills
* Able to mentor and support junior team members
* Good computer literacy and competency to work in an electronic document management environment
