The Company Nbryo a Brisbane-based livestock reproduction technology company that is commercialising research in embryo transfer technology. We are in the research and development phase of a platform of technologies aimed to increase production, lower greenhouse gases, improve land use and impact the lives of small holder farmers around the world. The Role
The full-time Brisbane-based role will support the Production Manager and drive the field operations of our bovine reproductive studies. The Bovine Reproduction Specialist (OPU & ET) provides technical expertise in bovine Ovum Pick-Up (OPU) procedures and Embryo Transfer (ET) reproduction techniques. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation and be critical to the research and commercialisation of Nbryo technology.
You will bring hands-on technical livestock industry expertise to the technical team and have an agricultural or veterinary science background. Our HQ and laboratory facilities are Eight Mile Plains. Duties will include working with technicians across animal embryo production areas including field work, laboratory and office duties and training.
Occasional weekend, holiday, and some early morning hours will be required, including out of hours emergency support for animal studies. Key Responsibilities and Duties
* Support the Production Manager and technical team to ensure the successful execution of Nbryo's reproduction studies by:
* Administering Ovum Pick-Ups (OPU) procedures in livestock, including preparation of equipment, and assistance with donor management information
* Administering Embryo Transfer (ET) procedures in livestock, including preparation of equipment and consumables, and assistance with recipient synchrony information
* Perform flushing using using Multiple Ovulation Embryo Transfer (MOET) embryo production techniques
* Perform field-based laboratory techniques for handling of embryos, including grading, thawing and loading, and slow freezing
* Facilitate good stock management procedures and initiate procurement of OPU and ET equipment and consumables
* Provide training in Ovum Pick-Up and Embryo Transfer techniques
You will also be familiar with and operate in accordance with any OH&S procedures including any biosecurity policies and guidelines. Your Skills and Qualifications Qualifications to degree level in Agricultural or Veterinary Science including proof of QFever status, and full driver's license. 5+ years relevant work experience involving:
* Commercial OPU and ET, including MOET
* Field lab skills to handle embryos, including grading, thawing and loading, slow freezing
* Livestock handing
* Reproductive programming experience with assistive reproductive technology.
You will show competence in:
* Microsoft Office
* Monday, or similar project management experience desirable.
