Join a team where your experience matters
At LECE, you're not just a number.
We're a West Australian electrical contracting and engineering business with a strong reputation for delivering quality work, building long-term client relationships, and backing our people. We're proud of the team we've built and the culture that comes with it; good people, good standards, and a genuine commitment to doing the job properly.
We work across heavy industrial, mining, infrastructure, maintenance, and project environments, and we're now looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to join the team and help lead this important part of the business.
This is a senior role for someone who knows how to price work properly, understands the bigger commercial picture, and wants to play a real part in helping shape the work we win and how we set projects up for success.
The role
We're looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to lead the estimating function across our electrical contracting, maintenance, and project work.
You'll be responsible for helping us win new work by preparing strong, commercially sound proposals for customers across the heavy industrial, mining, and infrastructure sectors, covering a range of project types and contract models.
We're looking for someone who can bring consistency and continuous improvement to the estimating process, while also helping grow the team and strengthen the way we go to market.
You'll work closely with operations, supervisors, suppliers, and clients to make sure pricing is accurate, practical, competitive, and aligned with how the work will actually be delivered. You will be instrumental in negotiating with customers and bringing contracts through to execution. You will be comfortable with developing tender stage project methodologies, plans and feasibility and presenting to the customer.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to step into a role where they can make a genuine impact not just on tenders, but on the future growth and direction of the business.
Key responsibilities
Lead the estimating function across project, shutdown, maintenance, and service work
Prepare detailed and commercially sound tenders, proposals, and quotations
Review drawings, specifications, scopes, and client documentation
Complete take-offs and build accurate labour, material, subcontractor, and equipment pricing
Source and assess supplier and subcontractor pricing
Identify risks, exclusions, assumptions, and commercial considerations within submissions
Work closely with operations and delivery teams to ensure estimates are practical and achievable
Support tender reviews, strategy discussions, and bid planning
Contribute to improving estimating systems, templates, pricing structures, and internal processes
Assist with team development and help build capability within the estimating function
Support smooth handover of awarded work into delivery
About you
You're an experienced estimator who knows the difference between just pricing work and developing a proposal.
You'll bring a strong mix of technical understanding, commercial awareness, and practical thinking. You know how to build competitive submissions, manage risk, and work with the broader team to make sure projects are set up well from the start.
You'll likely have experience in electrical contracting, industrial projects, mining, infrastructure, or related sectors, and you'll be comfortable working across different contract types and customer expectations.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Proven experience as a Senior Estimator or a highly capable Estimator ready to step up. (NOTE for an exceptional person we would consider training into this role)
Strong experience in electrical contracting, industrial, mining, infrastructure, or related sectors
The ability to prepare accurate, commercially sound tenders and proposals
Strong understanding of project delivery, labour build-ups, material pricing, and subcontractor engagement
Ability to interpret drawings, scopes, and technical documentation
Strong commercial acumen and risk awareness
A collaborative approach and the ability to work closely with operations, supervisors, suppliers, and clients
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Confidence managing multiple tenders and deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in estimating software, Excel, and general business systems
Highly regarded:
Electrical trade background
Experience in heavy industrial, mining, and infrastructure environments
Experience with Simpro or similar estimating / job management systems
Leadership experience or the ability to mentor and grow team capability
What you'll get
At LECE, you'll be joining a gun team that values collaboration, culture, and doing a good job for our customers.
We're extremely proud of our people and the relationships we've built with clients over time. Every person in the business plays an important part in that. This role is no different as it's a key position that helps support our customers, strengthen our delivery, and shape the kind of work we win moving forward.
In return, you'll get:
A senior role with real influence and ownership
The chance to help shape and improve the estimating function
A strong team culture with good people around you
Long-term career opportunity in a growing WA business
Variety across projects, maintenance, and industrial work
A business that values relationships, practical thinking, and doing what we say we'll do
