The Multicultural Communities Council of SA (MCCSA) is welcoming enthusiastic and compassionate volunteers from diverse cultural backgrounds to join our Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS). Youll offer friendship and companionship to an older person, helping reduce their loneliness and social isolation. This flexible and rewarding opportunity is perfect for working, studying, or retired peopleand it's a beautiful way to give back to the community. Key Details: * Age: Volunteers must be 18 years or older * Commitment: At least 20 visits per year (about one hour every fortnight) * Activities: Share stories over a cup of tea, go for a walk, or enjoy a hobby together * No personal care involved: Volunteers do not assist with meals, finances, advocacy, or personal care * Centrelink approved: This role meets mutual obligation requirements for those aged 55 What were looking for: * Patience, empathy, and excellent communication (especially listening) * Respect, kindness, reliability, and a non-judgmental attitude * Flexibility and the ability to follow boundaries, policies, and procedures * Most importantly, a genuine enjoyment of spending time with older people Additional Info: A National Police Certificate is required (well help you apply, and its free of charge). Apply now to become an MCCSA ACVVS Volunteer Category Community Services Commitment Regular - more than 6 months Type Of Work Companionship & Social Support,Seniors & Aged Care, Time Required Visits are made once a fortnight (every two weeks). Each visit is approximately 1 hour long. You can choose a time that suits both you and the resident. A monthly contact sheet and visit record must be submitted to the coordinator. Training All ACVVS volunteers get an induction before starting. Ongoing training is offered every 2 months. MCCSA volunteers can also join free English classes, social activities, and appreciation events.
