The Eye and Ear has almost 90 different outpatient clinics for the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of vision and hearing loss and provides a 24-hour emergency eye and ear, nose and throat service.Every year the Eye and Ear cares for nearly 200,000 patients, with over 136,000 outpatients, over 42,000 emergency patients and over 14,000 inpatients. This position provides high‐quality clinical care to patients of the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital within the General ENT service. It also offers opportunities to undertake research activities in collaboration with the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Melbourne.The role affords comprehensive exposure to both routine and complex ENT cases, with extensive experience in the assessment and management of patients across a range of ENT subspecialties. This position is primarily clinical and full‐time (38 hours/week) in nature.Clinical responsibilities include participation in ENT Emergency Department sessions and Acute ENT clinics. The successful candidate will also be involved in subspecialty outpatient clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings. Operating commitments include rostered ad hoc general ENT operating sessions, with the potential for these to evolve into regular operating lists over time.The position includes a 0.1 FTE research component, generally conducted under the supervision of the University of Melbourne Department of Otolaryngology.Applicants should have completed specialist ENT training and be ready to undertake the role with a high degree of autonomy.This position is not designed as a supervised post for applicants seeking specialist pathway assessment or training equivalence.The weekly roster may include, but is not limited to, the following clinical and non‐clinical sessions:Five half‐day Emergency Department sessionsTwo Acute ENT clinic sessionsTwo subspecialty outpatient clinic sessionsOne session allocated to research and administrative dutiesAdditional ad hoc general and paediatric surgical sessions, where availableSalary and conditions of employment for the clinical fellows will be in accordance with the Australian Medical Association (Victoria) Doctors‐in‐Training Agreement 2022‐2026.The Eye and Ear is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing a work environment free from harassment or discrimination and to promoting cultural diversity and awareness in the workplace.The Eye and Ear is a smoke free environment.Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.At The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, we are committed to supporting people with disability to gain employment and develop their careers; we encourage you to apply.
