Job Description
The Walkabout Lodge & Tavern, Nhulunbuy, is seeking reliable and motivated Kitchen Hands to support our kitchens. The Kitchen Hand plays a key role in maintaining cleanliness of our kitchens, assisting the kitchen team, and supporting efficient food service operations.
Responsibilities
* Washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
* Maintaining cleanliness of kitchen, food preparation, and storage areas
* Assisting with basic food preparation as directed
* Handling and storing food in accordance with food safety standards
* Removing waste and managing bins and recycling
* Assisting chefs and kitchen staff during service periods
* Complying with workplace health & safety and food hygiene requirements
About You
* No previous kitchen experience required – training and upskilling provided for the right applicant
* Must be available to work full-time hours across a 7-day rotating roster, with shifts averaging approximately 7.6 hours per day
* Shifts are scheduled in accordance with the kitchen's operating hours, Monday to Sunday
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* Reliable, punctual, and physically capable of standing for extended periods
