Senior Recruiter - Accounting Support
Our client is a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting our community through meaningful services and initiatives.
Now seeking a skilled Payroll Officer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a hands-on role where you will take ownership of processing payroll and providing accurate, timely support across the full employee lifecycle. With exposure to a complex enterprise agreement and a range of employee benefits, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise in a purpose-driven organisation.
The Role
- Process end-to-end payroll accurately and autonomously for approx. 375 FTE.
- Maintain and update employee records in MicroPay.
- Respond to payroll queries via the shared inbox in a qualified and timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with complex enterprise agreement provisions and relevant legislation, including long service leave, parental leave top-ups, and other entitlements.
- Perform payroll reconciliations, reporting, and variance analysis.
- Use Excel (intermediate–advanced) to calculate formulas, create pivot tables, and perform data analysis to support payroll processing.
- Work closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure payroll policies, procedures, and controls are adhered to.
- Support audits and compliance checks as required.
- Contribute to process improvements in a highly manual payroll environment.
The Person
- Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end payroll independently.
- Strong systems knowledge; experience with Connx MicroPay is highly desirable.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data reconciliation).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll matters clearly and professionally.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
- A solid understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including long service leave and parental leave.
- Experience working with enterprise agreements in a complex environment.
