About the Role

Join the Maitland Hospital Physiotherapy Team at Metford as a Physiotherapist and play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across inpatient, outpatient, and Emergency Department settings. This is a dynamic position within a fast-paced acute hospital environment, where you will manage a diverse and complex caseload, with a strong focus on musculoskeletal and orthopaedic outpatient services, including post-surgical patients across both adult and paediatric populations.

You will provide advanced clinical expertise and contribute to service leadership, ensuring effective patient flow, safe clinical practice, and seamless integration within multidisciplinary teams. The role also involves mentoring junior staff and allied health assistants, supporting the ongoing development of the physiotherapy workforce. Comprehensive onboarding and professional support are provided, including structured orientation, shadowing opportunities, and ongoing supervision from experienced senior physiotherapists across Emergency, ICU, acute wards, and outpatient services.

Where You'll Be Working

You will be based at Maitland Hospital, Metford, working within a collaborative and supportive Physiotherapy team. The service operates across multiple clinical areas, including a large inpatient population and busy orthopaedic outpatient clinics. You will work closely with a network of senior physiotherapists across Maitland Hospital, Cessnock District Hospital, and Kurri Kurri District Hospital, benefiting from strong professional support and opportunities for development.

About You

You are an experienced and motivated physiotherapist with advanced clinical skills in outpatient musculoskeletal and orthopaedic physiotherapy, particularly in post-surgical care. You bring a patient-centred approach and thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.

* Advanced physiotherapy clinical experience and application of evidence-based practice
* Excellent verbal, non-verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Strong time management and prioritisation abilities, with the capacity to remain calm under pressure
* A high level of professionalism, accountability, and commitment to clinical excellence
* Proven ability to work autonomously and provide clinical leadership
* Experience supporting, mentoring, and developing junior staff and allied health assistants
* A commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement
