Principal Agricultural Economist
About the Role
* Support the manager in leading the development of regional economic strategies and initiatives, focusing on grazing and extensive agricultural economic services to achieve regional objectives to the highest standards.
* Lead the strategic analysis of issues of state and regional importance using a range of economic approaches such as cost‐benefit analysis, impact assessment, cost‐effectiveness analysis, non‐market valuation techniques and econometrics.
* Apply a strong understanding of agricultural production systems, with grazing experience desirable, and communicate technical information and advice to a diverse range of stakeholders.
* Provide support to the manager in overseeing a portfolio of internally and externally funded projects across multiple commodities in Queensland, including developing project proposals, leading execution, managing milestones and budgets, and ensuring clear communication of research findings.
* Develop and maintain high‐functioning stakeholder relationships, manage expectations, progress business opportunities, and represent the department on networks.
* Lead and mentor regional economists to foster a culture of excellence, customer service, continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of high‐quality services.
Essential Requirements
* Undertake overnight travel and travel to regional areas as required.
