About the role:

Be part of a team that turns complex financial data into clear, trusted insights that support critical decision making across NSW Health. As a Senior Statistician in Financial Planning and Analytics, you will apply advanced statistical and analytical methods to inform patient costing, funding models and system performance. Your work will help decision makers understand trends, trade offs and impacts across the health system, supporting evidence based planning and resource allocation. You will collaborate with experienced analysts and stakeholders across districts, pillars and the Ministry to ensure insights are robust, transparent and fit for purpose. The role offers exposure to large scale, real world data challenges and the opportunity to deepen your expertise in health system analytics. If you are driven by analytical rigour, relevance and impact, this role provides a meaningful platform to shape better decisions through data.

Health Manager Level 4, starting salary from $147,653 - $175,917 per annum plus Superannuation, with a 38-hour work week.

What you'll be doing

* Extract, transform and statistically analyse large, complex health datasets to support patient costing, funding analysis and system level decision making.
* Work collaboratively with other BAIT team members to reconcile multi source data, resolve data quality issues and ensure analytical consistency.
* Apply advanced statistical techniques to identify trends, variances and cost drivers across activity based funding and patient care streams.
* Produce reproducible, well documented analytical outputs that support routine reporting, modelling and ad hoc analytical requests.
* Translate complex analytical findings into clear, decision ready insights for financial and funding stakeholders across NSW Health.

About you:
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

* Tertiary qualifications in statistics, health information management, data science or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
* Strong experience extracting, validating and analysing high volume health datasets using tools such as SAS, SQL, Python/R and Excel.
* Sound knowledge of patient costing, activity based funding and health system data, with an understanding of data governance and quality frameworks.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively with other team members to reconcile multi source data and produce robust, reproducible analysis.
* Demonstrated capability to translate complex statistical outputs into clear, decision ready insights for technical and non technical stakeholders.
