About us
headspace Early Psychosis (hEP) provide comprehensive early intervention services to young people aged 12 to 25 years experiencing an early episode of psychosis or at risk of developing psychosis. Our committed and compassionate multi-disciplinary team have a rich history of working with young people, their family / carers to help achieve their recovery goals.
About the role
We currently have an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join the Functional Recovery Team (FRT). FRT promote the functional recovery of young people who are at risk of or have experienced their first episode of psychosis with a focus on early intervention.
In this role you will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based group therapy. Working alongside young people and their families to facilitate functional recovery. This includes but is not limited to outdoor adventure therapy programs such as surfing, kayaking/fishing, skateboarding, and hiking.
The role will be required to co-facilitate fitness, wellbeing, psychoeducation, social and creative based groups together with holding a 1:1 caseload. In addition to these duties, you will provide clinical guidance to clinicians in hEP and proactively support student placements.
About you
You are an engaging individual with the ability to connect with clients who are navigating mental health challenges and difficult life experiences. You can work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team and utilise the appropriate techniques to support your clients.
Additionally, you will also possess the following skills and experience:
* Approved qualifications in Occupational Therapy and current membership of AHPRA is preferred. However, for the right candidate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Registered Mental Health Nurse, Psychologist, Social Worker) and eligibility for membership of AHPRA or the appropriate professional body will be considered.
* Demonstrated ability to provide high quality assessments and collaborate, plan and coordinate treatment plans and psychosocial interventions.
* Sound knowledge of evidence-based practices and therapeutic interventions for young people presenting with complex mental health including at risk of or first episode of psychosis.
* A high level of communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
* You will be outgoing, energetic, collaborative, innovative and driven
* Current Drivers Licence.
* Current QLD Blue Card/Working with Children Check.
* Additional qualifications, interests, hobbies in areas such are personal training, yoga, creative arts, outdoor activities will be highly regarded.
The remuneration for this position will be commensurate with the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience and will range between gross $88109 to $94828 per annum plus superannuation and salary packaging benefits. You will be required to hold a current Australian Driver’s License and Queensland Working with Children Check.
