Part time 0.2FTE, 2 years fixed term Use your extensive experience to support research development and mentoring activities Base Salary $242,118 pro-rata 17% superannuation About the opportunity Located in the Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning, the Henry Halloran Urban & Regional Initiative (HURRI) is currently seeking applications from senior research leaders for the newly established Halloran Professor of Planning and Design. This is a fixed term fractional appointment intended to foster cross disciplinary research and dialogue across urban design, city and regional planning, and community health. The ideal candidate will bring extensive international research and practice networks, have an exceptional research and publication record, and demonstrable experience in supporting early career researchers. The role is intended to support research development and mentoring activities working with HURRI’s affiliated scholars, while allowing scope for the candidate to develop their own research agenda in relation to planning, design and health. The Henry Halloran Urban and Regional Research Initiative was established at the University of Sydney in 2013 as a result of the generous donation of Warren Halloran. The Initiative honours his father, Henry, an active advocate for town planning in the first half of the 20th century. Our goal is to promote scholarship, innovation and research in town planning, urban development and land management. We achieve this through collaborative cross-disciplinary and industry research that generates innovative approaches to urban and regional policy, planning and development issues. Key responsibilities of the role will be to: Develop a strategy for supporting early career researchers engaged with HURRI’s programs and or urban / regional planning and design more widely, for instance, through writing or research development workshops; Extend HURRI’s research networks across health, urban and regional planning and design; Develop and lead a research agenda relevant to urban/regional planning, design, health, including through publication and funded projects (note that any such additional research funding can extend the fractional appointment) Contribute to the HURRI’s wider public programs and events. About you (skills, capabilities and experience) a PhD in urban planning, architecture, and or design demonstrated senior research leadership experience at the Professorial level exceptional research publication record, relevant to urban planning, architecture, design and public health outstanding international reputation and networks across the academic discipline and beyond demonstrated experience in securing and managing externally funded research grants. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment. Term and remuneration The appointment is Part time 0.2FTE, 2 years fixed term. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
