**The Role**
As part of the Fair Entitlements Guarantee (FEG) Branch you will work in a high demand service environment to assess claims for financial assistance made by employees who are owed employment entitlements after losing their jobs due to insolvency. To assess claims you will interact directly with the Australian public and work closely with insolvency practitioners managing the affairs of insolvent employers. Reporting to Assistant Directors and supported by Senior Claim Assessors, you will make recommendations that comply with the requirements of the FEG Act to make timely and accurate payments to claimants.

The FEG Branch are seeking motivated and high performing individual with a capability to manage workflow, work independently or as part of a team, and deliver under pressure and to tight timelines.

As a claim assessor, you will have the following skills and capabilities:
- analytical problem solving and critical thinking skills
- strong written communication skills including attention to detail
- ability to communicate effectively including negotiating outcomes and timeframes with internal and external stakeholders, and explaining complex concepts, ideas and arguments to a range of audiences
- strong time management and organisation skills
- strong interpersonal skills, including a collaborative working style, good judgement and resilience
- skills in Microsoft products, including Excel and Outlook and the ability to quickly learn how to use program-based IT systems.
**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and APS employees as a permanent reassignment, temporary transfer at level or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity for a period of up to 12 months.
