Overview
We are seeking a skilled Asphalt Quality Technicians to support road construction projects by carrying out on-site testing of soils, aggregates, and asphalt materials. This role is critical in ensuring compaction, density, and surface quality meet project and industry specifications.
Responsibilities
- Conduct soil testing, nuclear density testing (nuke testing), and densometer testing on-site.
- Perform quality checks on asphalt, aggregates, and basecourse materials to confirm compliance with project requirements.
- Analyse and interpret test results, identifying trends and potential quality risks.
- Understand and monitor the impact of construction machinery (e.g. rollers, compactors) on soil and asphalt layers.
- Provide technical feedback to supervisors and project managers on compaction and surface outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of test results and prepare clear daily reports.
- Ensure all testing is performed in line with Australian Standards / project specifications and safety requirements.
About You
- Previous experience in asphalt or soil testing within construction or civil projects.
- Competent in the use of nuclear density gauges, densometers, and other field testing equipment.
- Sound knowledge of compaction theory and the interaction between machinery and ground surfaces.
- Solid analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail.
- Safety-conscious and able to work independently on-site.
