About the Role
AAC is seeking a dynamic and culturally grounded General Manager to lead our Corporation and support the aspirations of the Arabana People.
As the most senior executive officer of AAC, you will report directly to the Board of Directors and be responsible for the overall management, strategic growth, and operational performance of the Corporation. This includes leading high-performing teams, overseeing land and cultural heritage programs, securing funding, and building strong partnerships that advance sustainable development and self-determination for the Arabana community.
In this critical leadership position, you will:
* Oversee all operational, financial, and program areas of AAC.
* Lead the growth of AAC's land management, heritage, enterprise and ranger programs.
* Work closely with the Arabana Board to implement the strategic plan.
* Drive stakeholder engagement across government, industry, and community.
* Provide culturally respectful governance support and build Board capability.
* Represent AAC and the Arabana People at local, state and national levels.
This is a permanent position based in Port Augusta, with regular travel to Arabana Country and remote sites. Accommodation will be provided whilst in Port Augusta. The successful applicant will be responsible for getting themselves to Port Augusta. A competitive remuneration package is on offer that will be reflective of the successful applicant's qualifications, experience and alignment to the position.
About You
You are a strategic leader with a strong track record in executive management, preferably within an Aboriginal or community-focused organisation. You understand the importance of culturally responsive leadership and governance and have experience working closely with Traditional Owners, Elders, and Aboriginal communities.
You bring:
* Proven experience leading organisational growth and change
* Strong governance, financial, and operational management skills
* High-level communication and stakeholder engagement capability
* Experience working with and developing community-controlled Boards
* Deep respect for Aboriginal cultures, with knowledge of Arabana Country and protocols highly regarded
Tertiary qualifications in management, business, or a related field are desirable, along with the ability to meet probity and compliance requirements.
