What does the role involve?
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to support agency-wide budgeting, reporting and financial literacy efforts in a purpose-driven organisation.
You'll play a pivotal role in helping teams across the organisation understand and manage their finances. From creating insightful dashboards and supporting grant acquittals, to leading financial training and ensuring donor compliance, you'll be both a strategic partner and a hands-on technical expert.
Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
4. Work as a
valued member of the Corporate Services team, contributing to month end tasks and priorities
5. Deliver timely, accurate and insightful monthly management reports, including variance and trend analysis.
6. Act as a trusted finance business partner across the organisation, improving financial literacy and budget accountability.
7. Support funding acquittals, external audits, and donor reporting requirements, including those tied to stakeholder partnerships.
* Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, system improvements, and implementation of finance policies and procedures.
This role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne and will work a hybrid model, including two days in the office per week.
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to Caritas Australia's mission to end poverty and injustice by promoting human dignity for all, as well as a dedication to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching that guide our global efforts. They will have a mix of the following qualifications, skills and experience:
8. A qualified accountant (Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance; CPA/CA preferred) with 3–5 years' experience in management accounting, ideally in the not-for-profit or international development sectors
(but we are open to other sectors).
9. A confident business partner with strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage stakeholders across cultures and build financial capability across the organisation.
10. Technically proficient with financial systems, ERP platforms and Excel; experience with compliance reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and donor/funding body requirements (e.g. DFAT, ANCP, ACFID).
* A collaborative team player with a 'can do' attitude, who is patient, flexible, and passionate about supporting and developing non-finance staff.
