Hoops Capital is a multi-faceted basketball enterprise owning the Sydney Kings (NBL) and Sydney Flames (WNBL).

The organisation leads several development programs, including the Hoops Capital Academy, Harvey Norman Future Flames, and local Youth Leagues. It has also invested in premium facilities, most notably the Hoops Capital East facility at Moore Park, Sydney’s first dedicated training and development home for the Kings, Flames, and Hoops Academy.
Hoops Capital is majority-owned by Wollemi Capital Group (WCG), with TSE Group holding a minority stake. Basketball legends Andrew Bogut and Luc Longley are also key shareholders, offering leadership both on and off the court.
The Opportunity:
Hoops Capital seeks a visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to shape the future of the organisation with deep community roots and facilitate the next chapter of growth.
Reporting to a supportive ownership group and leading talented staff, the CEO will oversee all aspects of the organisation, including commercial, financial, operational, marketing, and community initiatives, while being highly visible and engaged with fans, owners, sponsors, media, and key stakeholders. The role demands a leader who is both commercially astute and community-minded, and who thrives in a high-profile, public-facing position.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Leadership: Drive and implement a long-term vision; position Hoops Capital as a leading basketball and community brand.
* Financial Management: Ensure strong financial health through budget management, revenue growth, sponsorships, and financial compliance.
* Operational Excellence: Oversee daily operations across sales, marketing, community, ticketing, membership, broadcast, and facilities.
* Team Leadership: Build and inspire a unified, high-performing team across Kings, Flames, and Hoops Academy.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Represent Hoops Capital at industry events, strengthen ties with fans, media, corporate partners, NBL, and WNBL.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Leadership: Exceptional leadership. Strategic and Operational. Recognised for setting clear standards and delivering growth. Creating a ‘one team’ culture across the Sydney Kings, Sydney Flames and Hoops Academy.
* Business Acumen: A future-focused strategic mindset. Proven experience in growing a business, commercial, finance, and marketing expertise, ensuring sustainable growth and community impact.
* Hoops Capital Ownership Group: Lead the development and execution of the organisation's strategic plan in collaboration with the ownership group.
* Financial Management: Drive financial performance through effective budgeting, revenue generation, sponsorship development, and cost management and analysis.
* Team Management: Ability to lead with inclusivity, motivate, collaborate and develop a high-performing team. Fostering a culture of accountability and setting high standards and values. Inspire and motivate.
* Commercial / Customer-focused: End to end responsibility for all aspects of customer and commercial performance, financial sustainability and commercial innovation. Background in sponsorship management and contract negotiations. Ticketing & Membership strategies.
* Communication: Highly developed communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
* Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve complex problems effectively.
* Network: Extensive networks across sports and entertainment, business, and community sectors will be highly regarded.
* Front Facing: Act as the public face of the organisation, strengthening relationships with fans, partners, media, and the broader basketball community.
* Relevant Experience: Extensive experience in sports and entertainment, proven track record of demonstrated performance in business leadership, or a related field.
* Basketball: A deep passion for basketball and community engagement, and the opportunity to make a genuine difference from grassroots to elite.
* Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Sports Management, or a related field is typically required.
