Job Description
HOBAN Recruitment is partnering with a leading Government organisation to recruit an APS5 level Data and Reporting Analyst located in NEWCASTLE NSW. This role sits within a high-performing analytics team focused on delivering data-driven insights to support operational decision-making and strategic outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Work under limited direction to deliver high-quality data analysis, reporting, and insights that inform key business decisions.
* Extract, manipulate and analyse complex datasets to produce meaningful insights and reporting outputs.
* Develop and maintain dashboards, reports and visualisations to support organisational performance monitoring.
* Identify trends, risks and emerging issues to inform timely operational decision-making.
* Ensure data integrity through robust validation, cleansing and quality assurance processes.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into reporting solutions.
* Contribute to improving reporting processes, tools, and methodologies.
* Support project activities including planning, tracking and reporting on outcomes.
* Prepare clear, concise and visually engaging reports for diverse audiences.

Qualifications & Experience
* Detail-oriented and proactive data professional with strong analytical and communication skills.
* Proven ability to interpret complex data sets and identify trends, patterns and insights.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables, Power Query, and advanced formulas).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data clearly and effectively.
* High attention to detail, particularly in data validation, cleansing and reporting accuracy.
* Demonstrated ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and translate business needs into data outputs.
* Proactive mindset with a focus on improving processes and solving data challenges.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience supporting project delivery and analysing business requirements (desirable).
* Australian Citizen required for this Federal Government role.
