Job Title: Team Leader Animal Management
**Job Description:**
A key role exists for a highly skilled and experienced Team Leader to oversee the management of animal welfare services. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing operational procedures, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and managing community escalations.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in court prosecution for relevant pieces of legislation, including the Domestic Animals Act 1994, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986, Impounding Livestock Act 1994, and Council's Local Laws.
The Team Leader will work closely with the Ballarat Animal Shelter and Coordinator Animal Services, providing support and assistance as needed. This includes coordinating warrant and seizure processes, leading a complex team dealing with highly emotive situations, and ensuring the effective implementation of Council processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Implementation of operational procedures and Council processes
* Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including the community and other agencies
* Managing community escalations, including warrant and seizure processes
* Leading a complex team dealing with highly emotive situations
* Providing support and assistance to the Ballarat Animal Shelter and Coordinator Animal Services
Key Selection Criteria:
* Demonstrated experience in animal handling, including impounding stock and following procedures effectively
* Good knowledge and skills in the use of computer software, such as Microsoft Office and database packages
* Sound communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills
* Time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks
* Current driver's license, including ability to handle trailer, floats, stock crate
* Knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues relevant to work activities and work area
