The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer (Level 3 – Advanced Practitioner) to support the sustainment and governance of deployed ICT capabilities within a Defence operational environment.
Working as part of a specialist team responsible for maintaining deployed networks and communication systems, you will develop and maintain technical documentation that supports system sustainment, governance compliance and operational readiness.
You will collaborate closely with technical subject matter experts to ensure documentation aligns with Defence standards and accurately reflects system capabilities and operational processes.
This is a long-term engagement running through for 12 months, with two potential 12-month extensions.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver and maintain documentation supporting deployed ICT governance and sustainment activities
* Develop operational and technical documentation aligned with Defence templates and standards
* Collaborate with technical SMEs to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness
* Produce moderation and editing packs to ensure clarity, compliance and readability
* Develop and maintain documentation artefact sets for ICT products and capabilities
* Support system managers in developing functional specifications and baseline capability definitions
* Prepare briefs, minutes and formal correspondence documenting key project decisions
* Maintain records management structures and documentation repositories
* Ensure documentation meets Defence governance and compliance requirements
Essential Criteria
* Demonstrated experience producing technical documentation in complex ICT or engineering environments
* Strong ability to translate technical information into clear, structured documentation
* Experience working with formal documentation standards, templates and governance frameworks
* Excellent written communication and editing skills
* Ability to collaborate effectively with technical SMEs and project teams
Highly Regarded
* Experience supporting Defence ICT, communications or deployed network capabilities
* Familiarity with Defence documentation standards and governance frameworks
* Experience working in secure or export-controlled environments (e.g. ITAR)
Security Clearance
You must be an Australian Citizen and hold a minimum NV1 clearance
