An opportunity exists for qualified Chefs to join our well established and highly reputable Catering Department at Prince of Wales Private Hospital on a Full time basis.

Your work as a chef will contribute to our patients experience with us; providing exceptional meals during their stay.

Prince of Wales Private Hospital is a leading high-level tertiary healthcare facility that specialises in acute surgical and maternity services.

The hospital is independently recognised by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality Healthcare for clinical safety and service excellence, and is renowned for achieving outstanding patient outcomes.

Our operating theatres consist of 11 theatres and 1 endoscopy suite which provides full elective sessions 6 days per week, including 24hour on call coverage.

Prince of Wales Private Hospital performs an average of 24,000 surgical cases and 2,000 births per year.

The casemix includes cardiothoracic, orthopaedic surgery, neurosurgery, Gynaecology, Urology, Reconstructive plastic surgery, general surgery, Ear, Nose and Throat and vascular surgery.

You'll find us at Randwick, where we share a precinct with three other hospitals; Sydney Children's Hospital, the Royal Hospital for Women and the Prince of Wales (public).

Responsibilities

- Provide exceptional customer/patient service by preparing nutritious food in a timely manner, ensuring the cleanliness of kitchens and food preparation, disposing of unused food appropriately, and ordering food supplies.

- Demonstrate cost effectiveness by using produce effectively and managing waste.

- Act as a valued member of an interdisciplinary team by promoting a positive team culture, supervising and providing guidance to kitchen staff, and by liaising with dieticians and other staff to create an experience that makes a difference.

- Demonstrate professional practice by working according to Healthscope's policies and processes, code of conduct and by participating in yearly performance appraisals and mandatory education.

Maintain skills and standards of customer service and ensure patient confidentiality and privacy are maintained at all times.

- Support Healthscope's safety and quality improvement and achievement of accreditation by actively participating in team meetings, quality and audit activities, and ensuring compliance with and participation in the National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards.

Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery
- Good working knowledge and understanding of HACCP regulations
- Available for shifts over a 7-day roster including weekend work
- Previous experience as a chef in a busy restaurant, club, hospital, or hotel food service environment is preferred.

- Strong culinary skills and a passion for delivering high-quality meals.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.

- A mindset focused on enhancing the dining experience-less hospital more hospitality.

Our commitment to quality and safety for our patients, staff and visitors is our highest priority.

Applicants will be required to provide a current National Police check, WWCC (where applicable) and Evidence of right to work in Australia prior to appointment.

Staff in patient contact roles will be required to provide proof of immunity to specified infectious diseases as a Category A Healthcare worker.

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF - NSW Health Professionals and Support Services - Enterprise Agreement - 2023, with a base rate of pay ranging from $33.29-$36.32 per hour (Not including penalty rates).
