V/Line's purpose is to connect Victorians through safe, reliable, and accessible transport. We believe in giving all Victorians opportunities through travel and transport – connecting them to jobs, education, family and friends, services, tourism and trade.
V/Line is experiencing significant growth and we're delivering more services, more trains, cheaper fares, and huge projects. With more than 3700 weekly train and coach services, an expansive freight network and unprecedented rail investment, millions of Victorians depend on us to deliver. You could be one of our 2700 committed team members who are up to the challenge.
About The Role
The Network Development Advisor provides strategic, operational and project‑focused advice across V/Line's major programs. Operating at the interface between projects and operations, the role partners with senior stakeholders, project leaders and external agencies to translate technical analysis into clear, actionable recommendations that shape service planning, network design and delivery outcomes.
This is a stakeholder‑facing position within a small specialist team, reporting directly to the Senior Advisor – Network Development. The role reviews project artefacts, challenges assumptions constructively, aligns operational objectives to project decisions and contributes to business cases and governance materials across the project lifecycle.
About You
This role will suit someone experienced in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments who is confident questioning, synthesising and communicating technical material in plain language. Strength lies in relationship management, structured problem‑solving and shaping decisions through evidence. Analytical literacy is important; hands‑on modelling is not the core focus.
The role will suit someone who brings:
* Experience in project interface/delivery within transport, infrastructure or similarly complex environments
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to translate technical findings into practical advice
* Rail operations/service planning exposure, including familiarity with RailSys or similar systems
* Working knowledge of Excel, Power BI, Tableau (able to understand, interrogate and present analysis)
* An organised, delivery‑focused approach and confidence operating across governance forums
If your skills or experience don't exactly match our listed requirements, we still encourage you to apply. We value diverse perspectives and believe in the potential for growth and development.
