Job Description
Reporting to the Medical Science Liaison Head, this opportunity has arisen for a full-time, experienced Medical Science Liaison based in Sydney to join our field-based medical team.
As a Medical Science Liaison, you will be responsible for developing professional relationships with external experts, key stakeholders, researchers, and members of the scientific community through the provision and exchange of appropriate scientific/clinical information in the therapeutic area of respiratory diseases, particularly Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD).
You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to support and shape strategy and drive scientific/clinical knowledge through medical activity execution, training, and insights gathering and sharing. Leadership skills are required to provide direction and be seen as a role model within the MSL team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provides medical and scientific information to internal and external stakeholders to ensure medical affairs objectives are realized and maintain company standards.
* Deals with requests for local medical information from external experts. Develops responses to non-standard scientific medical questions in collaboration with the Medical Advisor.
* Identification and mapping of key external experts, scientific networks, and health consumer organizations.
* Work with local external experts to support local IIS studies by facilitating interactions with the corresponding Medical Advisor and ROPU MA, support of local publications and CME events, and educates other functions.
* Provides business support through product presentations when requested.
* Is recognised as an excellent collaborator and a 'go-to' person for cross-functional colleagues.
* Perform all company business in accordance with all applicable regulations/legislation and company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
* Advanced degree in Science, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing or equivalent highly desirable.
* Life science qualification (Honours/Masters), or Pharmacy with hospital field experience will be considered.
Experience and Skills:
* Minimum of 2 years' experience as an MSL, with a focus on respiratory diseases; ILD experience preferred.
* Several years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or several years clinical experience in therapeutic area/a minimum two years medical/clinical and/or field experience in pharmaceutical industry.
* Strong understanding of the clinical and hospital environments within Australia's healthcare system.
* Australian pharmaceutical industry guidelines (MA Code of Conduct), regulatory/reimbursement framework (TGA, PBS) and clinical research guidelines (ICH-GCP, NHMRC National Statement).
* Demonstrated abilities in the delivery and clear communication of scientific findings in both large audience and 1-1 settings; building long-term relationship with KOLs, physicians and patient associations; the analysis and interpretation of complex medical data, operating in cross-functional team and collaborating effectiveness.
