Key Responsibilities
Project Development and Coordination
* Lead the development of utility-scale solar and BESS projects across Australia.
* Manage project life cycle from feasibility through to construction handover.
* Coordinate internal teams (engineering, finance, legal, planning, grid, community, environment) and external consultants.
* Monitor and manage project budgets, timelines, risks, and reporting.
* Support IC preparation and internal project approval processes.
Site Origination and Strategic Planning
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and assess new project Origination
* Undertake field-based feasibility assessments, including environmental and planning constraints, grid capacity, and land access.
* Provide clear and timely advice on development risks and mitigation strategies.
* Monitor relevant legislation and policy changes at the local, state, and federal level.
Stakeholder Engagement and Approvals
* Build and maintain positive relationships with landowners, community members, regulators, councils.
* Attend community information sessions and council meetings to represent project interests.
* Lead or support the planning and development approval processes, including environmental referrals and planning applications.
Land Acquisition and Negotiation
* Negotiate land access and tenure agreements with landowners, supported by legal counsel.
* Manage the landowner relationship life cycle, from initial contact to contract execution and handover to construction.
Commercial Analysis
* Support due diligence processes for project acquisitions and IC reviews.
About You
* 3+ years’ experience in renewable energy development, with a focus on large-scale solar and/or BESS.
* Tertiary qualification in engineering, environmental science, urban planning, or a related field preferred.
* Familiarity with National Electricity Market, grid connection processes, and National Electricity Rules.
* Demonstrated experience managing development approvals and stakeholder engagement.
* Understanding of local community dynamics, with the ability to negotiate effectively with landowners, regulators, utilities, and other stakeholders
* Proven ability to work across cross-functional teams and lead project work streams.
* Acting comfortably in cross-cultural teams, collaborating across country boundaries with a sense of diversity and inclusion
Location & Travel
* This position is to be based in Melbourne or Queensland, with regular regional and interstate travel requirements.
* The business is based in Melbourne, Victoria and travel to the office for regular team alignments is expected.
