Hazeldean is a family-owned agricultural business operating a high-performing Merino and Angus seedstock enterprise alongside commercial farming operations. Myalla is a key part of the Hazeldean operation and we are seeking an experienced, practical Farm Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day management of the 8,000ha property which has a core focus on a self replacing merino flock and a commercial and stud angus cow herd. Located 20 mins from Cooma, with fertile basalt soils the farm is extensivley pasture improved. Annual Average rainfall of 560mm.
The Role
The Farm Manager – Myalla is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the effective operation of the farm, including livestock, pasture, infrastructure and people. This role suits someone who enjoys being on the ground, takes pride in presentation and performance, and is motivated to continually improve the operation.
You will work closely and collaborate with the Hazeldean Management team to ensure alignment with broader business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Day-to-day management of Myalla farm operations
* Livestock management including animal health, welfare, feeding and movements
* Pasture and grazing management to optimise performance and sustainability
* Implementation of farm plans, budgets and seasonal programs
* Supervision and coordination of staff and contractors
* Machinery, infrastructure and equipment care and maintenance. Utes, SXS's, tractors for spraying, sowing and some feeding at times.
* Accurate record keeping and reporting: Agriwebb.
* Upholding high standards of workplace safety and biosecurity
About You
* Proven experience managing a livestock-based farming operation with a commercial focus
* Minimum 5 years of livestock farm management experience required
* Strong stockmanship and animal welfare focus
* Practical, organised and proactive with a "get things done" mindset
* Comfortable leading people and working as part of a wider team
* Good communication skills and attention to detail
* Commitment to safe work practices
