Starting salary $67,139 plus 15.4% employer super
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to recruit several Recruitment Administration Officers to support the 2026 Census temporary workforce.
These are temporary APS 3 positions up to 12 months duration, from November/December 2025 to September/October 2026. Successful applicants can work either full-time or part-time hours (minimum 3 days per week, 22 hours).
The team is planning to onboard new staff in three phases, beginning in early December 2025, followed by additional intakes in early February and early March 2026.
Recruitment Administration Officers play a key role in supporting the 2026 Census Program by contributing to the recruitment of more than 30,000 field staff. These positions make a critical contribution to the positive recruitment experience of our Field Workforce.
Recruitment Administration Officers will:
- conduct candidate screening, police checks, and other pre-employment checks
- support hiring managers with shortlisting, interview scheduling and documentation of interview outcomes
- issue contracts and employment documents to field staff
- monitor recruitment pipelines and identify candidates who may be blocked or not progressing
- build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- respond to candidate enquiries via phone and email in a professional and timely manner
- deliver culturally safe recruitment support to candidates and hiring managers
- provide general administrative support, including minute-taking and assistance to your supervisor
- assist in the development and refinement of recruitment processes, procedures, and supporting materials
- draft and maintain knowledge resources to guide recruitment activities
- adhere to the APS Code of Conduct and ABS policies
- perform other ad-hoc duties as required.
