We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Research Fellow.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 5 years. The successful candidate will be part of a renowned school that excels in teaching, research, and engagement in economics and public policy.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record as a reliable and trusted team player, with the ability to conduct research and engage with stakeholders to build effective working relationships. They will also be able to comply with obligations for the handling of sensitive data.
The successful candidate will work alongside world-class researchers in a collegial and respectful environment to support and develop the school's research agenda. A PhD in Economics is desirable, but we will consider candidates currently completing a PhD in Economics or a related field who have a strong research record and demonstrated research excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct high-quality research and contribute to the development of the school's research agenda.
* Engage with stakeholders to build effective working relationships and promote the school's research output.
* Comply with obligations for the handling of sensitive data.
Requirements
* PhD in Economics or a closely aligned discipline.
* Demonstrated research experience, including academic and/or commissioned research for government departments.
* To be eligible or currently hold a national security clearance.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in quantitative methodologies, especially econometrics (microeconometrics), statistics, and economic modelling.
* Demonstrated knowledge of statistical and econometrics software packages such as STATA or R.
* Demonstrated experience in writing research proposals and commissioned research tenders.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently to meet competing deadlines.
* Ability to undertake a whole project independently, from tendering phase to analysis, report writing and presentation to clients.
* Proven record of high-quality research, including a demonstrated capacity to attract research grant and/or consultancy funding.
* Demonstrated contribution to excellent working relations with colleagues, academic community, industry partners, and key stakeholders.
* Ability to navigate a dynamic work environment, build strong working relationships and drive team engagement and accountability.
* Excellent communication skills of technical content suitable for both the general public and ministerial/government policy audiences.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint.
