Location: Canberra, ACT | Onsite | Full-Time | 12-Month Contract + Extensions

Contract Duration: Initial 12 months, with up to 2 x 12-month extensions

Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
About the Role
A government department is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support critical ICT projects and operations. This role sits within a high-performing CIO Division that delivers enabling services and technology solutions to support national economic and scientific initiatives.
You'll be part of the Infrastructure Services team, responsible for maintaining and enhancing Windows Server environments, resolving major incidents, and supporting business-as-usual operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and support Windows Server operating systems and associated services.
* Troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents.
* Monitor systems and apply patches using Microsoft System Centre and Intune.
* Support cyber security initiatives and compliance with government standards.
Essential Criteria
Windows Server Expertise
Advanced experience with Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, PKI, ADFS, File and Print, DFS, GPO, and AGPM.
Systems Monitoring & Patching
Proficiency in Microsoft System Centre (SCOM, SCCM/MECM) and Intune.
Cyber Security Knowledge
Understanding of tools and methodologies including whitelisting, firewalls, vulnerability scanners, and device control.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience managing Azure IaaS environments.
* Familiarity with Australian Government cyber security frameworks (ISM, Essential 8, ACSC).
* Strong technical documentation skills (SOPs, design docs).
* Experience with PAM solutions (e.g., CyberArk) and enterprise identity management.
