About The Role
Sandfire Resources has entered into an exciting partnership with Havilah Resources to advance the Kalkaroo Copper‐Gold Project in South Australia. An opportunity exists for an accomplished Principal Project Engineer – Civil to join our Project team as we undertake the Prefeasibility Study, bringing deep technical authority, strategic project insight, and a proven track record delivering major mining infrastructure developments.
We are looking for someone who will provide high‐level direction across complex brownfield and greenfield projects, with a strong focus on tailings storage facilities, access and haul roads, water supply and distribution systems, hydrological infrastructure, and broader site civil works. Your influence will shape project strategy, engineering governance, and execution outcomes across multiple project phases.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical leadership and governance across civil engineering design, planning, and execution for major mining infrastructure projects.
* Lead feasibility study phases (Scoping, PFS, FS), ensuring robust options analysis, risk assessment, and alignment with business objectives.
* Oversee and review engineering deliverables for tailings facilities, water management systems, drainage, earthworks, and road infrastructure.
* Guide project implementation from early works through construction and commissioning, ensuring engineering integrity and constructability.
* Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering inputs and manage complex project interfaces.
* Develop and review scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and technical documentation.
* Engage with senior stakeholders, regulatory bodies, consultants, and contractors to drive alignment and resolve high‐level issues.
* Mentor and develop engineering capability within the team, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
About You
* 15–20 years' experience in civil engineering within the mining or heavy industry sector.
* Demonstrated experience delivering tailings, water, and mining infrastructure projects at a senior or principal level.
* Strong background in feasibility studies and major project execution.
* Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent highly regarded.
* Strong leadership presence, with the ability to influence, guide, and elevate engineering outcomes.
* Eligible to work and reside in Australia.
